For a place that doesn't list BV, Lunch On Leader did an awesome job! Big glass, nice coffee, heap wampum cream, and propotioned and filled just right. Because they had to improvise with a milkshake glass (no handle) it only lacked the protection of a napkin to protect from the heat of the glass.
I've decided to start scoring BV's...
Score: 8.5

Why Black?
I'm always challenged by the order takers...."you want it black, no milk, just cream?"
"Yes, a BLACK vienna, please."
I remember reading an article in an airline magazine about the opinion of a coffee connossieur which suggested that fancy, milk laden offerings were in fact denigrating the coffee experience. That struck a chord with me as I usually drink black coffee, or, as I jokingly refer to it, "catholic coffee" - black, NUN!
It's only when I'm "out and about" that I'll indulge a black vienna.

Because I enjoy it!
I was going to title this post "Why?" but then figured you'd be asking that anyway, so the answer seemed more appropriate...Anyway, yes, I'm really into Black Vienna Coffee and anytime I enter a coffee shop find myself scouring the menu first to see if it's on offer. That's usually a good sign that they know how to make one! However, the number of times I've been more than disappointed with the end result suggests it's not a high priority in Barista training. So why this 'blog? The idea came to me a couple of years ago on a holiday in New Zealand, for it was there I found myself indulging one of these nearly every day and had the time and context to really enjoy and compare them. So it's taken me a couple of years to get to the point of actually doing this, but I'm well prepared! Even in New Zealand I was already using my 'phone camera to record these tasty indulgences, and have done almost every time since. So I have no shortage of pictorial examples to share here, and in most cases even have the locations recorded.I welcome any topical comments and pictorial submissions you wish to share via posts. I will moderate submissions.
